The 2026 Kona blends compact agility with modern style, offering a well-balanced small SUV option for drivers who want efficiency, urban friendliness, and bold design. At Hyundai of New Bern, we’re excited to show you how this model can meet both daily and weekend needs.
The 2026 Kona retains its sharp, futuristic exterior with a strong stance, sculpted body lines, and sleek LED lighting details. Some design tweaks for 2026 include refined trim naming and package reshuffling, such as the introduction of SEL Sport and SEL Premium trims, combining features from prior SEL, N-Line, and Limited versions. The Kona’s compact footprint—with a wheelbase around 104.7 in and length about 171.3 in—makes it nimble in traffic and tight parking spots.
The Kona seats five. Rear seat legroom comes in at ~ 38.2 in, front legroom ~ 41.7 in. Cargo capacity is competitive: about 25.5 cu ft behind the rear seats, expanding to 63.7 cu ft with the rear folded. Technology and comfort are upgraded in 2026. A 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard. The SE trim includes wireless smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto), proximity key with push-button start, and safety features like Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, blind-spot warnings, and more.
The base engine uses an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) (a form of CVT), while the turbocharged engine is paired with a more conventional 8-speed automatic. The Kona is available in Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) standard, with All-Wheel Drive (AWD, using HTRAC) as optional on many trims.

The 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard across trims. Higher trims (SEL Premium, Limited) add features such as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, power driver’s seat, premium upholstery (e.g. H-Tex), and more. Convenience additions: wireless charging, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, smart key / push-button start, and larger storage trays.
Standard Hyundai SmartSense suite: forward collision-avoidance, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert. 2026 now includes junction turning assist, adaptive cruise control, and more features shifting into standard across trims. Available advanced features on higher trims: surround-view camera, hands-free smart liftgate, parking assistance, etc.
